Meet the Team

  • President

My name is Bob Haas. I have been married to my rockstar, kindergarten teacher of a wife for 29 years. We have 2 beautiful children together, Jake who would be 22 and Sarah who is 20! I was born in Virginia and moved several times before we finally settled down in West Chester, OH.

I met Kim while working at Kings Island. She was my only contact to the community of Goshen. We lived in a couple areas before settling down in Goshen. At the time, I had no desire whatsoever to live in a small town. However, it only took a couple of 'events' for me to realize this town was special. We finished raising our children here. Both graduates of Goshen Local Schools. This is now my hometown. I couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I am proud of my Township. The amount of outpouring whenever a tragedy occurs is unmatched (in my opinion) anywhere else.

My son Jake, whom the SnacPac4L Foundation was started in honor of, was always a source of pride for me. He was fun and goofy, always wanted to please people, had a very kind heart and handled adversity well. He was a great student, an athlete, had many, many friends that he would do anything for. He had decided that he wanted to go into Law Enforcement. We were excited for him. He was a student at UC when he decided he wanted to enlist in the National Guard. He had what looked like everything going for him, however, one fall night in October he made the tragic decision to end his life. I have yet to meet any of his many friends that said they saw ANY signs at all, that we should have been concerned.

This was tragedy like no other. Needless to say his family, friends and acquaintances were all rocked to the core. Faith, shaken. Purpose, gone. Any reason to see joy, gone. His mother, sister and I are still grieving, that part may never end. However, we also wanted to make something beautiful out of this tragedy? We knew from the first week, that something like this Foundation had to be started, but we had to have time for some measure of healing.

18 months later, here we are. While Kim and Sarah are not at the same place as me, they are involved and supportive-I could not do this without their love and support! We WILL make a difference. I have said from the beginning, if we only ever help one young person, IT WILL ALL BE WORTH IT! We want to bring some much needed awareness to these issues. Mental health issues are not taboo. If you injure yourself-you get help! Why would you not treat your mental health the same way?

These conversations are hard-but so, so necessary! It is OK to talk about your feelings. It is OK to reach out. It is OK to not be 'normal'. Making the choice, or even thinking about suicide, is NOT THE SOLUTION! Everyone’s life has so much value. Everyone’s life is worth so much. Everyone's has a story that is not finished.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE-DO NOT GIVE UP!

  • Vice President

Deborah grew up in Goshen. She and her husband, Joe, are graduates of Goshen High School. They have two daughters, Eva and Lauren, attending Goshen Local Schools.

Mrs. Gray has a Bachelor of Science degree from Wilmington College and a Master of Education from Xavier University. Deborah has worked at the University of Cincinnati since 2006 where she has held many leadership roles overseeing student success and services for undergraduate students.

Deborah was appointed to the Goshen Board of Education in May 2019, elected in Nov. 2019 and re-elected for a full term in 2021. She has also served on two other non-profit organizations.

She is passionate about the well-being of the Goshen community and students at UC. Helping children and young adults see and achieve their full potential is important to Deborah. In her professional roles she is exposed to the reality of what so many teens and young adults are navigating and how often suicidal ideation is happening. She is honored to serve as Vice President of the SnacPac4L Foundation. She truly believes this organization will have a big impact not only for the children and young adults in our local community but their families as well.

  • Treasurer

Steve Pegram is a Goshen Township resident and former Chief of Goshen Fire and EMS. After 32 years of working in Fire and EMS Steve became Township Administrator in Goshen and currently works in that same role for Hamilton Township. Steve has an extensive and diverse background having served as President, Vice-President, Treasurer and Board member with 7 different non-profit boards in the past.

Steves wife Mollie is a school nurse and they have 2 kids, one a sophomore in HS and the other a sophomore in college. Being friends with the Haas family and a first responder, Steve was on scene the night we lost Jake to suicide. Like so many of us Steve has seen suicide way too often, it's quickly becoming the #1 cause of death for public safety professionals and is already one of the leading causes of death for teens as well as military personnel. Steve hopes that his work with the SnacPac4L Foundation will raise awareness and create resources in and for the Goshen Community

  • Secretary

Derrick Holmes is a life-long Clermont County resident and graduated from Milford High School. He currently works in the IT industry as a Business Development Manager. He and his beautiful wife, Jessica, have been married for 25 years. They have lived in Goshen for more than 15 years and raised two sons, Randy (23) and Connor (22). Both are graduates of Goshen High School and have moved out of state to pursue their own adventures.

Derrick has been an active member of the Goshen community even before he officially moved into town by coaching the “Goshen Yodas” youth baseball team for several years. Derrick also coached youth football and served on the Goshen Youth Football Board and represented Goshen with the Clermont County Youth Football League. He has also been an active member of the Goshen community for many years outside of sports by serving on the Goshen Bicentennial Committee, and serving on the Goshen Board of Zoning Appeals for many years.

Over the past couple of years it has become increasingly evident to Derrick that there are more people than we know silently fighting a battle. A battle that eventually consumes them into feeling there is only one way to end the battle. He hopes by bringing awareness to the issue, those that are struggling realize they are not alone, and more folks will learn to start conversations that begin to normalize the idea that it is ok to discuss feelings.

I am Larry Haas, Bob’s father. My wife, Barbara and I have lived in Liberty Twp. for 32 years. I previously had no close contact with suicide, and this really caught me off guard. Barbara and I grieve the loss of Jacob, our oldest grandson, but we are so proud of our son, his wife, Kim, and our granddaughter Sarah for the way they are living their lives to make a difference for others. It would be a wonderful outcome if SnacPac4L could spare another family the grief we have experienced.

I am an active member of Christ Church in Glendale, an Episcopal church and am currently enrolled in a program to become certified as a Stephen Minister. This is a Christian lay offering to provide one on one support for people who have encountered significant changes in their lives: loss of job, divorce, death of spouse or child or severe health challenges. Entering this program is a direct outcome of Jacob’s death.

I am retired from a career in high performance computing. I worked for some premier computer companies and provided system management for some of the largest installations at the National Science Foundation, the Department of Defense and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. Now I have the time and energy to do anything I can to help make SnacPac4L successful.

Mackenzie grew up in Goshen and is a 2019 Goshen graduate. She is currently obtaining a degree in Educational Studies at Arizona State University online and will graduate with a Bachelor's degree in May. She has worked on staff at Rivers Crossing Community Church as the Nursery Preschool Coordinator since November 2021.

Mackenzie is passionate about mental health and desires to be a catalyst for change. Not only has she experienced the effects of losing someone to suicide, but Mackenzie has been open about dealing with her own struggles with suicidal ideation. She found her initial years of college & living on her own to be incredibly challenging which led to a 3-year battle with suicidal thoughts and depression. On her darkest days, she felt her life had no purpose. In those years she realized the journey to receiving adequate care was far too difficult & something needed to change. This drives her passion to make a difference. She hopes to see a day where people can share their struggles openly without fear, a day where everyone has access to the care they need, and a day where suicide is no longer devastating our communities.
